Missing key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure direct passage to the last 16, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This occasion offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Control Established from the Outset
In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.
Ex-Arsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.
The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
