The total count of victims from the transport jet that ignited and crashed has climbed to 13, as confirmed by official announcements.
Official's Statement
While en route to the Workers’ memorial service, I learned of a thirteenth victim that lost their life as a result of the plane crash,” stated the local official in a social media post. “My prayers are with the families, companions and colleagues of all who were lost in this week’s disaster. We will endure this collectively.”
Casualties Named
A statement from the carrier named the pilots on board the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.
“Our thoughts reach out to all employee who has been touched and all in our local area – supporting you and ensuring you obtain the attention and assistance you need is our priority,” the firm’s communication read.
Probe Findings
National officials disclosed that the freight aircraft’s left wing burst into flames and an engine detached just after liftoff from the airfield, resulting in the aircraft to fall and explode into a blaze.
The National Transportation Safety Board announced it is investigating the jet’s upkeep logs, that was in Texas for fixes a period before the incident.
Aviation information showed the aircraft was on the ground in the Texas city from early September to 18 October.
“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was present in that city,” remarked an official on the following day, not giving a precise period. “We will look at all elements of repairs that was done, from the repair time, right up to the day of the journey.”
Findings of Key Components
The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were retrieved, and the motor was located on the runway.
The units – called flight recorders – were constructed to survive crash impacts and severe temperatures from infernos, and they looked to be in one piece when discovered amid the wreckage. Authorities intend to reviewing information from the devices.
Jet’s last data recordings displayed an elevation of 475 feet and a speed of 210 miles per hour ahead of the crash.
Repair Record
According to FAA documents dated that date, a crack on a structural piece in the center wing fuel tank required repairs.
The company ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies structural repairs for the carrier’s MD-11 and operates a repair facility in Texas, refused to comment, but said it would cooperate fully when relevant authorities approached it.

Public Response
A candlelight vigil was organized on the late afternoon of that date by the regional Teamsters Union, which supports employees at the airfield, the company’s largest freight center.
